Acoustic Lead Guitar

Slim Richey, The Most Dangerous Guitar Player in Texas began his career too long ago to remember, playing guitar in his high school jazz band. In 1962 Slim won the Outstanding Soloist Award at his first jazz festival, The Oklahoma University Jazz Festival, judged by the Famous Jazz Critic, Leonard Feather and Jazz Clarinetist, Buddy DeFranco. Slim, a lively, animated player, has been popular at various jazz festivals ever since. Over the years Slim has played and recorded with many great jazz artists including Herb Ellis, Maryann Price, Dan Hicks, David Amram and Marc Johnson. Slim's critically acclaimed 1977 album, Jazz Grass, sold well in the U.S. and phenomenally well in Japan resulting in two tours of Japan. Slim has also toured Australia, New Zealand, Europe (three times) and has toured more than a dozen times in Mexico, most recently in November of 1997 at the prestigious San Miguel Jazz Festival. Slim has his own playing style, which he has taught at workshops worldwide and on his instructional video, Instant Jazz Guitar.
